Have you considered Legal Separation as an alternative to divorce?
A person may file for a legal separation (separate maintenance) rather than a divorce pursuant to NRS 125.190. While some people think this is a less obtrusive way to leave their spouse, it should not be taken lightly. This statute exists mainly for people, who for religious reasons, cannot be legally divorced but wish to separate their finances with their spouse. There may be some strategic reasons for obtaining a legal separation over a divorce for elderly couples and couples who wish to remain on their spouse’s insurance coverage that they otherwise would lose in a divorce.
For almost two decades our Las Vegas family law attorneys have been working with clients to help them make decisions when perusing a legal separation is appropriate. More importantly , once the decision has been made we have crafted an arrangement that will allow them to feel satisfied with the terms of their separation agreement.
