National Healthcare Decisions Day – April 16th
Despite recent gains in public awareness of the need for advance care planning, studies indicate that most Americans have not exercised their right to make decisions about their healthcare in the event that they cannot speak for themselves. April 16, 2018, is National Healthcare Decisions Day (“NHDD”). The NHDD initiative is a collaborative effort of national, state and community organizations committed to ensuring that all adults with decision-making capacity in the United States have the information and opportunity to communicate and document their healthcare decisions.
A Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care Decisions addresses advance directives and provides for the appointment of a health care agent in the event someone is unable to make their own medical decisions. They are an important part of every estate plan. In an effort to promote the use of Durable Powers of Attorney for Health Care Decisions, Drizin Law will prepare these documents free of charge for anyone scheduling an appointment on or before April 16, 2018.
