It’s that time of year again. Thanksgiving is one of the most beloved holidays of all. According to CNN.com, Thanksgiving is America’s second favorite holiday after Christmas. Thanksgiving is a great time to entertain with friends and family, and it’s also a time to think about giving back to those less fortunate. As we enjoy delicious seasonal favorites, it’s difficult to understand that there are seniors in Las Vegas struggling with hunger. Sadly, many seniors in Las Vegas struggle to meet their basic daily needs. So while you’re preparing to enjoy Thanksgiving, please be sure to keep in mind those that are in need this holiday season. Helping Hands of Vegas Valley has a simple way you can help.
Established in 2000, Helping Hands of Vegas Valley is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission to provide free, assistive services to senior citizens in Southern Nevada, allowing them to maintain their dignity and independence while improving health and daily living. Almost 2,000 seniors receive food from Helping Hands each month.
Helping Hands can use the following donations all year long:
- Canned tuna or chicken
- Canned soup, vegetables, fruit
- Peanut butter
- Packaged dry mashed potatoes
- Canned pasta sauce
